I love seeing my efforts translate into smiles of satisfaction for everyone, and creating beautiful, warm memories together. It was with this idea that I founded Kea Journeys.

My Story

Kia Ora! I am Dirk Tsai Chia-Cheng, the founder and owner of Kea Journeys.

Graduated from the University of Otago, New Zealand, with a major in Business Administration and a minor in Entrepreneurship. During my studies, I also took various subjects including history and tourism. My research interests include how culture influences business operations and sustainability.

More than ten years ago, I came to New Zealand from Hong Kong to study, and lived in Dunedin and Christchurch. From getting to know this land as an international student to later working in the tourism industry, New Zealand's South Island has unknowingly become a place I am very familiar with and want to share with others.

After graduation, I worked in a construction company, and also held positions as a restaurant manager, factory worker, and truck driver. This diverse cross-disciplinary experience has shaped my inclusive personality. I have over 10 years of experience leading tours, from groups of 2 to 36 people. I also have over 10 years of driving experience, holding both bus and semi-trailer driver's licenses (Class 1, 2, 3, 4, 5). Over the years, I've traversed the streets and alleys and magnificent highways of the South Island, accompanying countless travelers of all ages. For me, leading a tour is not just about transporting guests from one attraction to another, but about understanding what each traveler wants to see, what pace they prefer, and then incorporating my years of accumulated local experience into the journey.
